Online Workshop: Teaching Sex- and Gender-Sensitive Surgery Is Not Just a Matter of Content
Language: Englisch
Sex- and gender-sensitivity in surgical education is crucial for fostering inclusive learning environments and improving patient care. In surgical education the hidden curriculum — the set of implicit values and behaviors conveyed within education — is particularly important as much of the teaching occurs in small-group or one-to-one clinical settings, where implicit messages on gender stereotypes, competitive behaviors, and masculine norms often shape the learning experience. This workshop explores strategies to integrate sex- and gender-sensitive approaches into surgical teaching practices. Through interactive discussions, participants will develop practical solutions to enhance sex- and gender-sensitivity in (their) surgical training beyond content.
